Amusing Jews is an interview show celebrating Jewish contributors and contributions to American popular culture. No religion, no politics — just informative and entertaining conversations with people behind the things we love.
Who Are We?
Jonathan Friedmann, Ph.D., is president of the Western States Jewish History Association, director of the Jewish Museum of the American West, and the author or editor of over thirty books on music, Jewish history, and popular culture. He’s also the co-founder of an esoteric space klezmer ensemble Rabbinical School Dropouts (of blessed memory). When Jonathan was a little boy, Bob Hope saw him throwing a tantrum in an airport. Hope turned to his entourage and declared, “That kid is funny!”

Joey has been talking people’s ears off in various forums for the better part of two decades, and is excited to be talking on a more official basis. When he’s not recording an episode with Jonathan, you might find Joey leading services at synagogues throughout So Cal, or at an LAFC game with his TSG fam. 🖤💛
